Kia understands that the young drivers that are entering the automotive marketplace in droves are demanding more and more technology inside the cabins of their cars. That is why our favorite automaker has really made a push to bring itself to the cutting-edge of in-cabin technology and connectivity. The most recent example came at the Consumer Electronics Show that finished up in Las Vegas earlier this month.
At this event Kia displayed the latest prototype of its UVO infotainment system. It has been updated to meet the highest safety and usability demands of today's modern driver and we seriously can't wait to get this great technology into the cars in our showroom here at Lithia Kia of Anchorage.
The biggest change to the UVO system is the integration of the User-Centered Driver (UCD) concept. This includes an 18-inch display screen that is positioned in the driver's line of sight in front of the windshield. Information about traffic, navigation, vehicle speed, and much more are beamed onto the screen and drivers can monitor this information while keeping their eyes completely on the road.
The UVO system can be operated by both voice commands or hand gestures picked up by infrared sensors and a built-in camera. Other infotainment displays such as large touch screens and wireless phone chargers were also shown off by Kia at CES.
While it will likely be a few years before this sort of advanced technology makes it to the production lines, our team is always standing by ready to answer any questions about the on-board tech currently available in the lineup of new Kia models we have for sale. Simply visit us at our showroom located at 4434 Old Seward Highway Anchorage, AK. We hope to see you soon.
