With very few exceptions, there isn't much in the way of hatchbacks in the new Kia lineup. However, if the latest concept teased by the South Korean automaker is any indication, that may soon change.

The prototype, known as the GT4 Stinger Concept, is set for reveal at the Detroit Auto Show that kicks off on January 13th. At this point, we know little, aside from the duo of teaser images Kia has tossed our way.

In the first image, we get a look at the GT4 Stinger from the top down, depicting what appears to be a 2-door hot hatch with wide haunches and sleek lines. The picture also suggests a space-age tail lamp design, not too dissimilar from the Niro Concept we saw in Frankfurt.

The second image is where we get the real meat and potatoes. By this image, we can see that the concept rides curiously low, and indeed sports the wider wheel base we noted in the earlier picture.

Along with this, Kia also gave us some information about the car, such as its 2+2 seating and turbocharged 2.0-liter 315 horsepower engine. The hot hatch is also purported to have rear wheel drive.

We'll give you more information on the GT4 Stinger Concept as we get it. In the meantime, if you're on the market for a new Kia here in Anchorage, AK, our location has plenty of models to choose from. Contact us if you'd like to set up a test drive.
