You’re a smart, discerning driver. You wear your seatbelt, look both ways at stop signs, and you try to be on alert. Now, your Kia Optima is on alert, too, looking out for your safety and the safety of others on the road. The 2016 Kia Optima has available Autonomous Emergency braking as well as Advanced Smart Cruise Control, making it easier to #DriveWise whenever you travel.
The Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system works like a safety net, designed to catch you if something falls through. The system has the ability to sense vehicles or obstacles in your path, such as a pedestrian. If the AEB detects that a crash is imminent, it will automatically apply the brakes, helping you to reduce the damage of a collision, or even avoid it entirely. Now that's smart tech.
We all love cruise control, especially on those long road trips. Now, with Available Advanced Smart Cruise control, cruising along just became even easier (and much safer!). This intuitive system allows you to set your cruise-speed, and then, as traffic speeds change, it will adjust your speed relative to the vehicles moving around you. So, if traffic slows ahead of you or a car from another lane cuts in front, the system will automatically adjust your cruise speed to accommodate the change in traffic safely. When traffic picks up again, the system will readjust until you are back at your originally-set cruise speed. It’s an intuitive feature that feels like it should have always been, but we’re just glad it’s available now. It’s one way Kia is bringing some more “control” to the “cruise control.”
