There is a Safety Difference When Using a Spare Tire

Did you know that there is a difference in spare tires? Most vehicles are equipped with a smaller size spare tire, otherwise known as a “donut”. However, many vehicles still use a standard full-size spare tire.

With a donut, you’re limited to how far you should drive after replacing the flat. That is because the tire is not designed for long-term use and does not meet the safety standards for extended driving that are identical to a regular size tire. The full-size spare tire does meet the standards but it is typically not as great on appearance for what you’re accustomed, therefore you will still want to change it as soon as possible.

When you’re in need of having your tire replaced, contact our service center here at Lithia Kia of Anchorage. Our trained staff located in Anchorage, AK will happily assist you with getting back on the road and inspect your other tires!

Wishing you safe driving during your travels!
