The Hybrid that Looks Like Anything but a Hybrid: The Kia Niro
Kia has quickly become one of the most well-rounded automakers today thanks to the goal to completely go against the grain and offer their buyers with features that are normally reserved for luxury models at an affordable price. Now, with Kia offering drivers with luxury, heart-pounding performance, and sleek designs there is no better time to introduce their first true hybrid car in the form of the Kia Niro.
The Kia Niro was introduced to the world way back in 2013 and three years later buyers were finally able to get their hands on this unique hybrid crossover. Powered by a combination of a 1.6L four-cylinder engine and an electric motor the Kia Niro creates 139 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. While this power won't blow the doors off, it is more than adequate to make it quicker than the Toyota Prius and give driver's more capability.
When buyers normally look at hybrid models normally they notice the less than appealing design, but with the Kia Niro the design is anything but ugly. This model does not scream to the world that you are driving a hybrid thanks to the attractive design. The Kia Niro utilizes much of the same design language that is found throughout the entire Kia line-up and is especially reminiscent of the Kia Sportage.
